South Africa
Join our most experienced tour guide, Helge,
and explore the best of South Africa.
We start in Cape Town and follow "The Garden Route",
which is known as one of the world's most beautiful road trips.
Duration: 18 dager
You will see Robben Island, vineyards, taste amazing food, experience safari and hang gliding.
You have the opportunity to fly acroplane, visit picturesque coastal towns on the edge of cliffs, ride ostriches, dive with sharks, fish, relax on the beach, do the world's highest bungee jump, and visit the beautiful Table Mountain.
We highly recommend renting BMW motorcycles for this tour, as it is difficult to find Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the condition we require for our rental bikes. If you still want to rent a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, we can arrange it, but it will cost more and only if booked well in advance.
THIS IS INCLUDED:
- Guided tours to various destinations around the world with our knowledgeable guides.
Daily itinerary
We reserve the right to change the program and schedule.
Day 1: We arrive late, and our dedicated driver will transport us to the hotel by our own bus. Dinner and drinks are available at the hotel for those who wish, or you can just hit the sack and recharge for an amazing tour in South Africa.
Day 2: Today, we enjoy ourselves in the city center – Cape Town is known as one of the two most beautiful cities in the world! (vying for the top spot with Rio De Janeiro in Brazil). Fashion models flock to Cape Town to be photographed in the beautiful light here… We start in downtown Cape Town/Waterfront, which is a shopping paradise with numerous cafes and beer-serving places in this magnificent city. In the evening, we have dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants.
Day 3: We begin the day with a visit to Robben Island – where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned (Cape Town’s version of Alcatraz Island in San Francisco). Then we head to Table Mountain, a world-famous plateau. We take the cable car up (the view is incredible!) and enjoy a cold beer (or champagne/cold white wine) at the top, overlooking all of Cape Town – voted one of the most beautiful places on Earth (no offense to the funicular, dear people of Bergen, but Table Mountain truly takes the cake when it comes to the view…). We end the day with good food and drinks. South Africa is known for its excellent cuisine and fine wines at very reasonable prices. It’s time to loosen that belt a notch.
Day 4: Cape Town – Hermanus, approximately 210 km We take out the bikes in the morning, and the ADVENTURE begins! We cruise along the coast to Betty’s Bay, passing through the southernmost points of Africa. What’s unique down here is that there are distinctive and charming hotels, BUT many hotels only have 2-3 or 4-5 rooms! It’s rare to find accommodations that can accommodate a group like ours. However, we have found a cozy hotel in Hermanus. We are now entering an unknown world for most of us: THE WORLD OF THE GREAT WHITE SHARK! We are heading to the place recognized as the WORLD’S PREMIER DESTINATION FOR SHARK DIVING: GANSBAAI. We are going to get in the water and dive with sharks! (It’s not as scary as it sounds… but it’s an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!) To pump ourselves up, we’ll be staying in HERMANUS at the charming Windsor Hotel.
Day 5: Hermanus – Gaansbai – Cape Agulhas (Africa’s southernmost point) – Arniston, approximately 240 km Today is the shark diving day. We receive training and a quick breakfast before heading out on boats to the realm of the great white shark. Those who want to dive (i.e., be in the water in a cage while the shark swims by) can do so. MOST people want to do this. No diving experience is required. After “dancing with sharks,” we put on our helmets and set off on motorcycles to Africa’s southernmost point: L’Agulhas! (Not everyone can boast that they have stood at the southernmost point on the African mainland). We then head to the coastal town of Arniston, where we stay at the idyllic Hotel Arniston and Spa. In the evening, we relax by the pool and enjoy a fine dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
Day 6: Arniston – Wilderness, approximately 330 km We set course for Wilderness. We drive inland before cruising back to the coast, through beautiful landscapes and along the shoreline towards Wilderness. We arrive at the hotel where we enjoy good food, drinks, and the pool. We stay at The Wilderness Hotel, located near the ocean.
Day 7: Wilderness to Knysna, approximately 210 km We start the day with a good breakfast. Then we head towards Knysna, where we will stay for 2 nights. This will be the first adrenaline day. We drive towards the Tsitsikamma Forest, to the world’s highest bungee jump at 216 meters. This is not for people with a fear of heights or weak hearts. For those of us who are not as brave, we can sit and watch the madness from a restaurant with a view of the entire jump site. Upon arrival at the hotel, you can stroll around Knysna, enjoy the harbor area, and dine at one of the many restaurants, or simply relax by the pool with umbrella drinks.
Day 8: Knysna “Do-it-yourself day” This is the day we take a “break.” You can choose what you want to do in the Knysna area. And the possibilities are vast. Elephant safaris, numerous small zoos, deep-sea fishing, and more. The list is long. Those who wish can also laze by the pool or visit one of the many beaches in the area. In the evening, we can arrange a “Fjord Cruise” with The Paddle Cruiser, an old paddleboat that takes us around the Knysna Bay while we enjoy the sunset, good food, and drinks. We will arrange this trip in South Africa.
Day 9:
- Knysna – Port Elizabeth, approximately 270 km … This will be the second adrenaline day. We start with a good breakfast before getting on the bikes and heading towards Port Elizabeth. For those who haven’t had enough speed and excitement, we make a stop in Storms River along the way, where we swing like Tarzan from tree to tree over deep ravines, hanging from a steel cable stretched between the trees. This is tremendous fun. Then we ride the last stretch towards Port Elizabeth, where we will stay for 2 days.
Day 10:
- Port Elizabeth “Free day” This day can be spent relaxing at the many beautiful beaches around Port Elizabeth, or we can take a stroll around the city, do some shopping, and have a coffee/lunch at one of the many eateries in Port Elizabeth. There are also many attractions in the area, to name a few: Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum, etc. Alternatively, you can hop on the bikes and take a ride around the Port Elizabeth area.
Day 11:
- Port Elizabeth – Oudtshoorn, approximately 371 km. Now we start on Route 62 towards the inland and up into the mountains towards Oudtshoorn. We have lunch along Route 62. We also make a stop at an ostrich farm, where we have a tour of the farm. Here you can also witness ostrich races and even try riding an ostrich yourself! After arriving at the hotel, if time permits, those who wish can visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch, where you can encounter a variety of wild animals and even try diving with crocodiles! In the evening, we have dinner at one of the nearby restaurants.
Day 12:
- Oudtshoorn – Barrydale, 200 km. We ride through magnificent valleys, large mountains, and beautiful roads. We make stops in Calitzdorp and Ladismith, where we have lunch. We also visit Ronnies Sex Shop (which has nothing to do with sex) before ending up in Barrydale, where we stay at an artist’s home-turned-cozy hotel. This is a charming mountain village where we enjoy a pleasant evening with good food and drinks at a restaurant in the hotel. On all our trips, we try to find unique and distinctive hotels that provide an experience in themselves, instead of booking into a hotel chain where everything is “the same.”
Day 13:
- Barrydale – Cape Town, approximately 260 km Final day of riding towards Cape Town. We start the day a bit early to get into Cape Town before the rush hour. We ride Route 62 towards Worcester, then turn towards the wine regions of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. These areas are a sight to behold and offer great motorcycle roads. We make a stop in Franschhoek, a small wine-growing town, where we have lunch. Then we continue the last stretch towards Cape Town, where we return the bikes and celebrate the completion of the trip. In the evening, we have a nice dinner to celebrate the end of the motorcycle tour.
Day 14:
- Cape Town. Wine tasting in the Stellenbosch area. The entire day is dedicated to visiting different wine farms in the Stellenbosch area. In the evening, we can have dinner in the hotel’s tower or at one of the many restaurants nearby.
Day 15:
- Excursion to Aquila Safari and Shopping day in Cape Town We start the day early with an excursion to Aquila Safari. This is the largest wildlife park in the Cape Town area. When we return, those who wish can spend the rest of the day shopping in Cape Town, which offers great bargains. We can arrange buses with local knowledgeable drivers who know all the good and affordable shopping spots in Cape Town. This will take up the whole day. In the evening, we have a farewell dinner.
Day 16:
- Departure day and trip to Cape of Good Hope. We arrange a trip to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. We organize buses to take us there, and we will also have time to observe penguins if weather and time permit. If possible, we may also take a whale safari. Then we return to the hotel to collect our luggage and depart for the airport. We leave in the late evening, around 20:00, from the hotel to Cape Town Airport.
Welcome to South Africa and an experience of a lifetime!

FAQ
The rule of thumb is one large bag or backpack per person plus carry-on luggage. All luggage will be placed in the support vehicle, except for what you need during the day (sunscreen, rain gear, camera, etc.). All motorcycles have storage space. We recommend bringing salt tablets from home due to the hot weather.
